What it is like to straighten your hair(My experience)

I have naturally curly/wavy hair. When I say that, I want you to realise that it is extremely wavy, gets tangled too often, is frizzy, and very thick. As much as they aren't proper curls, they are bad enough due to the volume. Moreover there is no scope of leaving it without combing. And when you do comb it, 7/10 times the hair brush will get stuck in it.

Now what makes it worse, is when your mother and brother have perfectly straight hair. And that was how it was. I had to have hair which was a combination of straight and curls(gene game wrong). So obviously, I used to sit here cribbing about my awful hair, as I tried to pull out the hair brush, while my mother looked just fine with her 'woke up like this' hair.

Naturally, I craved straight hair. And after a lot of persuading, my mother finally let me get straightening done after my 10th grade board exams. I remember going to the salon and sitting there nervously, wondering if it was a good idea to do smoothening(smoothening gives a more natural look to your hair. Or so they say..). But once I was done, I was convinced it was a good idea.

Now the thing with permanent straightening/smoothening your hair is, that the word permanent, just means that it stays till your new hair starts growing back. And the new hair that grows, is curled again. So now, your hair is partially straight and partially wavy. If you're like me a.k.a. you don't care about how it looks as long as the hair brush can pass through/too lazy to plug in the straightener and straighten the root hair a bit, then you will just go with it. And that's what I did for around 6 months, after which I finally decided to do a touch-up(they convince you it takes lesser time than the initial smoothening treatment did, but those are little white lies)

That touch-up was the last time I smoothened my hair. After that, I just didn't bother. I let it grow, until it was half wavy, half straight. Then finally after my 12th boards, I decided to go in for a haircut, and chopped off the straight ends altogether, and going back to square one.

I was back to my curls.

But I really didn't mind anymore. Yes, I did still want straight hair(I still do), but I don't put myself down just because I don't have straight hair. Maybe I just grew up, and accepted that I'm pretty, just the way I am.

But now that people I knew, knew how I looked with straight hair, they preferred that look, over my natural hair look. Around 8/10 people would tell me,"You look better with straight hair..". As much as everyone can place their own opinions, people really need to realise that telling me that straight hair suits me better is more of an insult than a compliment. Some people even advise you to go ahead and re-straighten it. I usually used to turn a deaf ear to them.

That's pretty much how my experience with straightening my hair was. Different people have different experiences but in my opinion, it is worth doing only around 2 to 3 times, and not making it into a habit.

L'oreal Paris Mythic Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

Again, I'm sorry for not posting on Thursday. :(
Sincere apologies.

I recently started using L'oreal Paris' Mythic Oil shampoo and conditioner, on recommendation of my Stylist at the Salon. At first I was hesitant, because I'd never heard of it and such, but now I've stopped using any other products on my hair. Totally trust Mythic Oil Shampoo and Conditioner.

Mythic Oil is made of organic constituents and does not damage your hair. The other shampoos that you get in the market easily, damage your hair causing problems like hairfall, dandruff, etc. Mythic oil has no side effects on your hair, and also protects it. The same, being made of organic constituents comes to the benefit of the user anyways.

Yes, this costs way too much. I think the shampoo costs around INR 850 and the conditioner costs around INR 800. But that is because it is organic as I've heard. It lasts apparently for a month or two, according to me, while the conditioner may last longer than that. I think, you can even apply the conditioner to your scalp, and it won't cause any damage.

I have attached a picture of the shampoo I have, just for the size(I got the picture from the internet xD). Now you do know, why I said it would last for a long time.

I have no idea if this actually reduces hair problems like Dandruff and Hair fall. My stylist had claimed that it is very good for your hair, but my hair fall problem has not yet stopped or reduced, so I won't claim that.

That's it for Mythic Oil then. I hope this post helps you :)

I'll try to post on Thursday, but I'm not sure as I have my singing rehearsals lately.
